Data note: The post-natal data from PRAMS (Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System) are collected shortly after birth, which is likely to not capture all instances of postpartum depression, given research has found that vulnerability for depression extends beyond 6 weeks postpartum (see Zachary N. Stowe et al. "The onset of postpartum depression: Implications for clinical screening in obstetrical and primary care." American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology (2005) 192, 522–6).
