Developmental screening provides information on how children are doing as they grow. Like a yardstick for measuring height, developmental screening is a tool that helps families measure important areas of their children's development through the early years.
Data note: The ASQ is the Ages and Stages Questionnaire that assesses developmental progress in children ages 1 month to 5 1/2 years; the ASQ-SE is the Ages and Stages Questionnaire: Social and Emotional, which is a screening tool designed to identify children who may be at risk for social and emotional developmental difficulties. Data in ASQ-SE column include ASQ-SE and SE2.
Data between 2018-2021 are from the Welligent database, to which the Family Resource Centers throughout the state entered data on their ASQ screenings. The data they enter includes information from organizations they support to complete screenings, such as local childcare centers. The data from Welligent do not represent all the developmental screenings done in the state. Further, the state ended its contract with Welligent in 2021. 2023-2024 data are collected via survey distributed by DHHS to all Watch Me Grow partners in the state.
